A food desensitization procedure is the slow, methodical introduction of a food to (possibly) reduce the chance of a severe allergic reaction. E.g. the introduction of small, but increasing doses of peanut in a peanut-allergic person under a controlled and monitored environment to prevent severe anaphylaxis in the event of an accidental exposure. By slowly getting the body to accept small but increasing doses of the allergen over time, food desensitization trains the body over time to react less severely.
