Allergy Skin Testing

The test includes applying a small amount of the suspected irritant on the skin and then scratching or poking the skin to put the allergen beneath the skin surface.

Blood Testing

An allergy blood test looks for elevated levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in your blood. The test can discover allergies to foods, pets, pollen, and other irritants.

Contact allergy / chemical sensitivity patch testing

An allergy blood test looks for elevated levels of immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in your blood. The test can discover allergies to foods, pets, pollen, and other irritants.

CT imaging

A computed tomography or CT scan is the style of imaging that clinicians choose for examining sinus anatomy and sinus infection symptoms. Before recommending sinus surgery, experts at the Sino-Nasal Disorders and Allergy Center recommend a sinus CT scan.

Drug allergy testing

Dr. Modena may conduct blood tests to rule out other illnesses causing your signs or symptoms. While there are blood tests for diagnosing allergic reactions to a few medicines, they are rarely utilized due to the limited research on their accuracy. However, they may be used if there is a possibility of a strong reaction to a skin test.

Drug skin testing

A skin test involves the allergist or nurse applying a small amount of a suspected medication to your skin with a tiny needle that scratches the skin, an injection, or a patch. A positive test reaction will result in a red, itchy bump. A positive result indicates that you may be allergic to drugs.

Environmental allergy skin and blood testing

Dr. Modena utilizes skin and blood testing to understand which environmental elements trigger your allergies. With a better understanding of what triggers your allergies, Dr. Modena can treat you better.

Exhaled nitric oxide

It calculates the amount of nitric oxide emitted from a breath. Increased nitric oxide levels are linked to lung airway edema. This test can be used to detect whether an asthmatic patient is responding well to various treatments.

Food allergy blood testing

A blood test can assess your immune system's response to specific meals by detecting immunoglobulin E, an allergy-related antibody (IgE). A blood sample taken in your doctor's office is forwarded to a medical laboratory where different foods can be analyzed for this test.

Food allergy skin and blood testing

RAST is a blood test that evaluates the quantity of allergy antibody IgE produced when your blood is exposed to a specific food protein. Blood testing, such as Skin Prick Testing (SPT), can detect the presence of IgE. However, a positive result does not rule out a food allergy diagnosis.

Food allergy skin testing

Your skin is exposed to suspected allergy-causing substances (allergens) and then examined for symptoms of an allergic reaction during allergy skin tests. Allergy testing, in conjunction with your medical history, may determine whether a specific substance you touch, breathe, or ingest is causing symptoms.

Genetic & Genomic testing

Testing for allergies or asthma at the genetic level helps Dr. Modena see if there are any underlying issues you may be missing or triggers you're unaware of. In addition, providing these tests gives you a better way to breathe better.

Genetic/genomic testing for personalized medicine therapy

Personalized medicine employs genetic testing to tailor medical treatments to the unique biology of each patient. According to supporters, this customized approach to therapy is a safer and more successful way to practice medicine than the traditional "one size fits all" approach.

Immune system work-up/testing

This test determines the number of immunoglobulins, or antibodies, in your blood. Antibodies are proteins the immune system produces to combat pathogens such as viruses and bacteria. To combat different sorts of harmful chemicals, your body has different immunoglobulins.

IoT device tracking (e.g., Fitbit tracking, smart sharps containers)

IoT wearable technology is a soft, flexible, waterproof wearable that communicates with a smartphone app and web portal via Bluetooth, WiFi, and cellular connections. This offers Dr. Modena a better idea of how your asthma or allergies are affecting you daily and how to treat them more effectively.

Mast cell work-up/testing

Blood tests, including serum tryptase – a measure of mast cell load or activation – both at the start and after a mast cell response, and 24-hour urine samples for several mast cell messengers, are used to diagnose.

Microbiome

Microbiome testing uses a feces sample to determine the number and kind of microbes in your gut, such as bacteria and viruses.

Nasal endoscopy

Nasal endoscopy is a technique that allows doctors to examine the nasal and sinus passageways. It is performed using an endoscope. This is a small, flexible tube that houses a small camera and a light.

Oral food desensitization therapy

OIT is a medically supervised therapy in which the patient consumes small, gradually increasing amounts of a food to which they are known to be allergic daily, to become desensitized or tolerant to it over time.

Pulmonary function testing

Pulmonary function testing is a comprehensive examination of the respiratory system, including patient history, physical examinations, and pulmonary function tests.
